The ongoing development of quantum computers presents new challenges for traditional encryption technologies such as VPNs. Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), which often rely on the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) protocol, serve as the backbone of many modern IT security solutions. A crucial step toward mitigating the threats posed by quantum computers is the introduction of post-quantum preshared keys (PQ-PSKs or PPKs) in the IKEv2 protocol – now implemented in the firmware LCOS 10.90 of R&S®LANCOM SD-WAN gateways and WLAN controllers.
